Fossils of the Technocene
This series of paperclay “fossils” was born of my frustration with the rapid pace of technological change and my concern with the ecological impact of obsolete, discarded technology. Each technological advance demands more raw materials and creates more pollution and waste as consumers trade in the old for the new. The cycle spins faster and faster, until the discarded cell phones, cameras, typewriters, and other items pile up in our landfills. Will they be the record of our existence 300 million years from now?
